About St Andrew's

A warm welcome to the parish church of St Andrew.

St Andrew’s is a vibrant church that has a heart for opening its’ doors to every member of the community. We want everyone to feel that church is for them.

For those unfamiliar to church, it can feel daunting and confusing. Therefore, at St Andrew’s, we try to make all that we do and all that we offer as accessible as possible.

At St Andrew’s we consider ourselves one big family brought together from many walks of life by our shared love of Jesus. Our reason for being church here and underpinning all that we do are Jesus' message and teachings, which we call the gospel. The ‘gospel’ means ‘good news’, and we want to be good news to you and to the entire community.

Who we are and how we function

The ecclesiastical parish church of St Andrew Westcliff-on-Sea is situated in the civic ward of Westborough.

St Andrew's is an Anglican church and part of the Church of England within the Diocese of Chelmsford.

We are governed locally by the Parochail Church Council  (PCC) of St Andrew, Westcliff-on-Sea. The PCC is made up of church members and church officers and are trustees. Members offer to stand at the Annual Parochial Church Meeting, they are nominated and seconded by members of the congregation of St Andrew's who are themselves registered on the Church Electoral Roll.

The role of the PCC is to serve on behalf of the whole church membership in its mission and activities within the whole parish community. Further to maintain its buildings and land; to manage its finances wisely.

Our current PCC membership is:

Priest-in-charge and Chairperson: Revd Paul A Gambling

PCC Secretary: Geraldine Leideurt

Church warden and Safeguarding Officer: Alison Cooper

Church warden: Sarah Makunde

Deputy Lay Chairperson: Christine Box

Church Treasurer: Caroline McGregor
